FamilyFinds provides users with another way to save while checking out local businesses. The site is essentially another group coupon affair, giving users the opportunity to buy into a deeply discounted product or service. Currently, all the negotiated discounts are located in Los Angeles, California. The site still provides discounts for those not in California however these are pulled from other similar websites. Users can save a great deal on activities, products and services in their community through FamilyFinds.Show more screenshots »
Daily D was founded in March of 2010 by Matt Coffin. Daily D, which refers to “Daily Deals”, renamed itself FamilyFinds.com in October, 2010. Based out of Santa Monica, California, FamilyFinds provides users in the Los Angeles area with many great discounts. The site was intended to provide members only pricing available exclusively for FamilyFinds from many local businesses. The scope of the site may expand in the future, but for now, the discounts only cover the Los Angeles area. Those in other states can still find discounts through FamilyFinds, but these are pulled from other sources and not originating on the site.
In reality, FamilyFinds is not very unique compared to the many other group coupon websites out there. For those in the Los Angeles, California area, the site my hold a little more promise. However anyone located outside of that area may find FamilyFinds to be lacking. There are other group discount sites that cover more areas and the user may have better luck with these. That’s not to say FamilyFinds won’t expand eventually, plus the aggregated discount listing provided for anyone not in Los Angeles is a plus.
The FamilyFinds website invites users with images of smiling families which take center stage. The combination of hints of brilliant color, plain backgrounds, and large colorful images works very well for the site.
Just like many other group discount websites, FamilyFinds offers a minimal registration process. As soon as the visitor arrives on the homepage, they are greeted with the first step of the two step registration form. The first step asks for a zip code to determine the visitor’s location. After submitting the information, the form slides to the left and a new one slides from the right (a rather clever touch considering how smoothly it happens). The second step asks for an email address. After clicking the orange “All Done” button, the user is advised that they are now members. The site then asks them to click the number of boys or girls they have so they can find age appropriate deals for families.
FamilyFinds does not offer a service that would warrant a fee. Anyone can create an account at no cost. The process is fast and painless, which is also a plus, but not much different from similar websites. The only cost associated with FamilyFinds depends on how many discounts the user takes advantage of. Each discount requires a payment to buy into, so the user is in total control of how much they spend on the site.
FamilyFinds is ideal for anyone who loves to save money in the Los Angeles, California area. Although users in other areas can still receive lists of discounts pulled from other online sites, the main attraction would be for those in the intended region.
